Description
Volum celebrates the art of glassblowing and the Italian tradition of spherical glass luminaires. The reinterpretation of this lighting archetype from the perspective of the international architecture and design studio Snøhetta takes the functionality and aesthetics of these traditional luminaires and brings them into modern spatial contexts. Volum offers the same level of function when viewed from any side and illuminates the room evenly through 360 degrees. In terms of aesthetics, Lodes and Snøhetta also focus on a uniform and harmonious effect: diffuser and frame appear as one unit without transitions. To achieve this level of impressive purity, the upper part of the glass sphere was designed in such a way that it can be closed with a translucent cover made of methacrylate, which "seals" the luminaire. Volum receives an additional decorative accent through its glossy white finish.
