What kind of light fits into my bathroom?
The bathroom certainly is the space in your house that demands the highest standard of safety and durability of the luminaire. Due to an integrated protective system, certain bathroom lights are especially resistant and therefore guarantee for a safe usability in wet rooms. The right application of the lights is arranged according to different protection classes that differ in their protection against environmental influences and moisture. This classes are declared by the so-called IP Code and standardised by DIN VDE 0100 Section 701. The bathroom can be divided into three zones:Zone 1 – Area surrounding the bath tub or shower – Light’s bodies mounted in this zone have to be protected against splash water for a safe usability: IP45, IP55 or IP65
Zone 2 – Area that is 60 cm (horizontal) and 225 cm (vertical) beyond Zone 1, as well as within a radius of 60 cm around the sink’s water tap – there has to be a protection against splash water as well: IP44 or higher is recommendable
Zone 3 – Lights that are mounted outside of Zone 1 or 2 don’t need a special protection
