Tunto Design LED1 Table Lamp

The Finnish designer of the LED1 table lamp, Mikko Kärkäinnen, can hardly save himself more from his designs. With the "if design award" he not only won one of the prestigious awards in the design scene, but was also nominated for the widely respected German Design Award for his LED1. The jury was completely convinced by the perfect interplay of well-known materials, new forms and modern technology. With a height of 30cm, the LED1 has a perfect size to be placed on a desk or bedside table. The lower, shorter part of the lamp comes to a length of 17cm, the upper arm of the lamp comes even to a length of 37cm. In order to create a harmonious overall picture despite these differences in length, the light tapers in width upwards. The foot of the lamp looks pretty stable, the arm, however, takes on a filigree character.

The LED1 table lamp is made exclusively by hand. The designer of the award-winning luminaire, Mikko Kärkäinnen, attaches particular importance to the fact that traditional manufacturing processes from the region are used in the manufacture of the luminaires. In the town of Järvenpää, one of the most densely populated cities in Finland, stands the manufactory of Tunto Design. All the materials needed for the production of the luminaires are supplied here. The high-quality oak and walnut wood comes from North America, the birch wood comes from the region around Järvenpää. When selecting the woods, the highest value is placed on quality. At the same time, Tunto Design supports certified and sustainable forest management.

The American oak is very popular for high quality furniture or floors. Their uniform structure and very nice coloring inspire as well as the simple and precise processing possibility.
The shade of the LED1 walnut table lamp is strong in its natural state and resembles in its note slightly light chocolate or a cinnamon stick.

Since such a beautiful look and the inner life can not be neglected, the Finnish manufacturer was clear. Tunto Design decided to operate the table lamp exclusively with LEDs, as these could best meet the self-imposed ecological requirements. In addition, to give the lamp a great feature, the LED1 has a barely visible touch dimmer. This sits at the top of the foot element of the lamp and is integrated into the wood almost invisible and can be recognized only by a faint glow.
