Icarus Wall- and Ceiling Light - Diameter 55 cm arturo alvarez
Icarus is the name of the new lamp, which was created by Arturo Álvarez. Icarus, a legendary figure from the Greek mythology, who fell from the sky, because he came too close to the sun, is an appropriate name for this extraordinary lamp. On the one hand the name symbolizes the ambition of man to reach new heights, which is manifested by the unusual light. On the other hand, the banishment of the young man to the island of Crete, and thus the reason for the high-altitude flight and crash, was a consequence of the use of a thread, who was given from Ariadne to Theseus, which appears in the design of the lamp again. A cord made of recycled cellulose, which winds up in a confused manner on the structure of the lamp, forms the shade of the Icarus wall- and ceiling lamp. The light that falls from the LED through this knotted structure, has a warm and diffuse character, and can enhance the mood of a room, depending on the choice of colour in different ways.
