Description
The Danish light and furniture manufacturer &tradition has with FlowerPot a design classic in its repertoire. The pop metal lamp was designed in 1968 by star designer Verner Panton. An eventful year in which the global youth loudly demanded the right to peace, love and harmony and rebelled against old, strict values. Pop Art and Futurism celebrated booms in the design world and with Kubrick's "2001: A Space Odyssey" one of the greatest films in history was shot (by the way with Panton's eponymous chair as a prop).
FlowerPot clearly breathes the spirit of that eventful period. One can safely call it retro and in fact in the very best sense of the word: the perfectly rounded light from neutral to gaudy painted metal has such a fascinatingly timeless character that you can not in the least imagine that it could sometime no longer fit into the era. FlowerPot's design is so attractive and witty that it has secured a firm place in the zeitgeist of past, the current and future periods.
