Discocó 53 Pendant Light Marset
With the Discocó pendant light the Spanish manufacturer Marset has created an extraordinary and remarkable lamp.
Discocó’s look visualises an open lotus blossom hanging up side down – having the same charm as that wonder of nature. Like its model the lamp has a great visual power, as a single object as well as in a group. It just depends on you in which way the Discocó pendant light looks the best in between your interior. Only one thing is totally clear: there are nearly no boundaries within the possibilities. The lamp is suited for totally different surroundings like living rooms, foyers, lofts and restaurants.
The lamp’s body consists of two main elements: inside Discocó you find a sphere made of stainless steel, the blossom-like outside is formed by 35 slices of opaque, moulded ABS.
These two parts are connected by slim wires and a simple plug-in system, which firmly holds together the components. The sphere’s bottom holds an E14 illuminant, which baths the area under the lamp in bright, non-glare light, while sideways and on top it shines through the blossom leaves creating an amazing atmosphere.
Designer Christophe Mathieu, who especially keeps in mind the user’s perspective while creating, wanted to make a modern and aesthetic light, which as well fulfils user’s practical issues. One feature that resulted from these considerations, is the fact that Discocó can be transported without the slightest fear that something could break. Different to other large lights, this lamp consists of sturdy materials, which are packaged separately, immensely reducing the danger of breakage. The mounting and dismounting is really easy regarding the simple plug-in system, so it can be done fast and by everyone, with no tools needed. All these magnificent features make this light by Marset one of today’s most popular objects in the world of lights. Discocó has the potential to highly inspire the designs of coming lights and to become a classic anytime soon.
