It has been 25 years since Catellani and Smith presented a completely new luminaire in its catalogue ”Oggetti senza tempo” - timeless objects. It was the DiscO ceiling light. And by watching this beautiful luminaire one is willing to agree with the designer's assessment. The circle-shaped base is illuminated by an illuminant right in the DiscOs delicate arm, thus reflecting a smooth and diffuse light into the room. Even though this classic arrangement is no reinvention of the wheel, by choosing high quality materials, using handcrafting and a wonderful composition of surface materials something special has been created. Enzo Catellani often draws inspiration from Mother Nature. The DiscO ceiling lamps celestial look is influenced by the sun and the moon.
