DescriptionThe iconic Bestlite BL4 floor lamp, designed by Robert Dudley Best in 1930, is still a guarantee of highly functional lighting and minimalist elegance. As the first design object inspired by the Bauhaus in Great Britain, Bestlite achieved great prominence shortly after its publication. Initially used as a functional work light, e.g. in garages and by the Royal Air Force, the design world became quickly aware of Bestlite as it was featured in the Architects Journal. The demand then increased enormously and at the latest when Winston Churchill chose the floor lamp for his office, its iconic status was established.
Even today, the unpretentious and timeless charm of Bestlite enjoys unabated popularity. Bestlite is not only an integral part of the permanent exhibitions of the Victoria & Albert Museum and the Design Museum London, but primarily a beautiful and functional lighting for living spaces of any kind. The numerous variants of the Gubi floor lamp make it easy to find an ideal choice for your individual room design.
